California Christmas 2009

Wow!  This month has flown by! I need things to slow down just a little so I can get caught up :) This post is WAY overdue, but I wanted to post pics from our California trip. I have TONS of GREAT pics, but I am only posting the ones I personally took- no offense to aunts/uncles and grandparents- the truth is I cannot locate the CD we made of all the pics...it's around here somewhere :) I hate it, I know there are some awesome pics of the kids on that CD...oh well- I have just a few more stacks and tubs to go through to get the office organized- it's just taking me a while...as usual :)

I traveled out there with the boys all by myself this time...to my amazement we all made it there in one piece. I was really praying for an empty flight, but no such luck. Tyson is still a lap child, so while we were waiting for everyone to board on the plane I let him sit like a "big boy" in the seat next to me. Rex was watching the men load all the luggage onto the plane. I was hoping that maybe we could have the whole row to ourselves, but alas- it wasn't meant to be. An older gentleman came walking down the aisle and asked if the aisle seat was taken. I told him no. He said great. I told him, I hope you don't mind flying with a couple of boys. He said, honey I'm a grandpa- I have 5 of these grandkids running around my house all the time. You need anything you just let me know and I'll be glad to help. I said thank you and thought, honey, you have know idea what may be in store for you this trip! Again, my boys proved me wrong and were great the whole flight- they did not sleep, but they did great. Gives me hope for future trips...just not anytime soon :) That was stressful!

The boys had a great time playing OUTSIDE EVERYDAY! What a nice break that was for us! It gets old having to stay inside from the cold :) The boys helped papa rake leaves- if I had known Rex could be such a great helper outside, I would have put him to work this past summer!

Gam-Gam had 2 tickets to Disneyland, so Aunt Kate took Rex for the day.  I told her that he would love to ride the train and that may be all that he wants to do- I don't think she believed me.  When they got home I asked her how it went she said that they rode the train a thousand times, got ice cream, and then came home :)  I know Rex was sooo excited, but the pictures don't show that at all- I think he may have been a little overwhelmed by the whole experience! Kate said the engineers were great and let Rex sit next to the engine!

Aunt Jenny left us a Gingerbread house to decorate! We had so much fun! I could not believe how great Rex did...he was so meticulous. I was really impressed by his decorating skills and by Tyson's eating skills :)
Getting the icing all ready...

Tyson waiting patiently...

I put the icing on and showed Rex how he could decorate the roof- he took it from there...Tyson ate the candy and watched...

so impressed!

Tyson eating...

There it is all done!  I love that I captured the cute moment between my Mom and Ty :)

...and after just a short while we demolished it- it was delicious!

...watching the train go around and around the tree :)

Knott's Berry Farm! Gam-Gam had tickets to Knott's, so we went for the day! It's a great theme park- Western themed, so there are lots and lots of train rides! :)
Tyson was really excited to ride the train...

Rex was having a rough start...but he soon came around...

...watching the steam engine

We rode on this train and when we got off, Rex watched the crew as the prepared the train for the next set of passengers.  The engineer was really nice and showed Rex all kinds of cool stuff :)

This really was the "train trip"  Here we went to the fullerton train station where we saw passenger trains and freight trains...the boys LOVED it!

The first night we arrived in California we got the boys all ready for bed and we were back in
Gam-Gam and Papas room and the boys were sitting on their bed.  Papa walked in and said in a deep voice, "What are you doing on my bed?" and ran over and started tickling the boys.  After that it became tradition every evening to play, "What are you doing on my bed?!"  So funny!

The last pic on my camera from our trip...on our way home.  Each boy had their bag and I was relieved Travis was with us...and yes, the slept the entire way home- typical.

We had such a great time- so many great memories...I will post more pics when I locate the CD...I don't feel like I captured how great our trip was...plus I didn't even have pics of the boys playing outside and digging for dinosaurs- We MISS YOU ALL and LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!
